Semantic Web, Cultural Heritage, and Art Historical Knowledge: Conceptual Models, Ontologies, and Epistemological Implications (Universidad de Málaga)
Seminar
Organised by the Telefónica-UMA Chair with the collaboration of the Picasso Museum of Málaga, this seminar brought together professionals to reflect on the construction of conceptual models and ontologies in cultural heritage and art history. The event, part of the University of Malaga's Andalex and Complexhibit projects, addressed the use of semantic web technologies, highlighting their potential to diversify access to cultural content, expand narratives and extract implicit knowledge from big data. Issues such as temporal ambiguity, interpretative layers, post-anthropocentric hierarchies and epistemological biases were discussed, highlighting the challenges and achievements in the creation of the OntoExhibit ontology for art exhibitions.
