Digital Performance Lecture II : Artistic Complexity behind the Screen

Conference-performance

The auditorium of the Centre Pompidou Málaga will host a performance-conference by Joaquín Ivars on Artistic Complexity on Wednesday 30 November at 17:00. The artist and researcher Joaquín Ivars gave a lecture-performance on artistic complexity. From behind the screens, and in connection with them, Ivars approached, in a theoretical and practical way, what can be called artistic complexity as a counter-example to the simplifications that surround our lives and which subject us to a certain vital and intellectual reductionism that endangers the possibility of finding or constructing much broader, more interesting and enriching visions of the world.

In this event, some of the mechanisms of digital processes are once again important, as they were in DIGITAL PERFORMANCE LECTURE I (The dramatisation of the non-realisation of an artistic project), which took place in this same centre a year earlier. However, on this occasion, it was the screens (digital or not), and the different interpretations of them, that led through a visual and reflexive journey around complex phenomena and in particular artistic complexity, both in its theoretical and practical aspects. And performativity, as in the first instalment of this series, was once again the way of approaching these themes, notably transforming the usual format of the more academic lecture.

The activity was organised by TransUMA in collaboration with the Department of History of Art of the UMA in the framework of the Master in Social Developments of Artistic Culture (MDSCA), as a result of the research project COMPLEXHIBIT (2022-2025) of the National R&D Plan, Ref: PID2021-125037NB-I00.
