celebrate in the <strong>Edificio del Rayo Verde (Teatinos Campus Extension, University of Malaga)<\/strong> the seminar <strong>\u201cData culture: navigating the complexity of cultural systems\u201d.\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember897\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">We will talk about <strong>cultural analytics, networks, visualisation and data ethics<\/strong> applied to <strong>museums, media and archives<\/strong>, and how these approaches allow us to rethink cultural institutions as complex systems.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember898\" data-end=\"519\">The seminar <strong data-start=\"13\" data-end=\"88\">\u00abData culture: navigating the complexity of cultural systems\u00bb.\u00bb<\/strong> aims to provide cultural professionals and researchers with a critical and practical framework for working with data in museums, media and archives. Based on cultural analytics, network analysis and information visualisation, the course proposes understanding cultural institutions as complex systems in which works, audiences, infrastructures and decisions mediated by data circulate.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"521\" data-end=\"569\">Specific objectives include:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"570\" data-end=\"1427\">\n<li data-start=\"570\" data-end=\"768\">\n<p data-start=\"572\" data-end=\"768\"><strong data-start=\"572\" data-end=\"621\">Introduce the basics of cultural analytics<\/strong>What data do museums, archives and media generate and manage today, and how can they become an object of research and a management tool?.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"769\" data-end=\"980\">\n<p data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"980\"><strong data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"804\">Exploring cultural networks<\/strong> (of works, artists, institutions, publics, discourses) and show how their representation through graphs allows us to detect patterns, hidden relationships and power dynamics.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"981\" data-end=\"1207\">\n<p data-start=\"983\" data-end=\"1207\"><strong data-start=\"983\" data-end=\"1015\">Working with visualisations<\/strong> as ways of thinking: not just as \u201cpretty pictures\u201d, but as analytical tools that help to ask new questions about collections, content and audiences.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1208\" data-end=\"1427\">\n<p data-start=\"1210\" data-end=\"1427\"><strong data-start=\"1210\" data-end=\"1254\">Opening a space for ethical reflection<\/strong> around the extraction, processing and circulation of cultural data: biases, algorithmic opacities, privacy, copyright and institutional responsibilities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2056\" data-end=\"2561\">In the contemporary context of platform logics, recommendation algorithms and economies of care, this seminar is particularly relevant because it addresses the <strong data-start=\"2239\" data-end=\"2285\">political and cultural dimension of data<\/strong>Who decides what is measured, what is preserved, what is made visible and what is left out of representation. Working with data in culture is no longer just a technical issue, but a critical competence central to imagining more open, reflective and accountable institutions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2563\" data-end=\"3213\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Finally, the course forms part of the project <strong data-start=\"2621\" data-end=\"2637\">Complexhibit<\/strong>, to which it contributes in two ways. On the one hand, it offers a training space where methodologies and tools that feed the project's research on complex exhibition systems, knowledge graphs and semantic models are shared.
